Open Orchestra at Beaver Folk Dancing

Musicians are invited to play for international folk dancing at IFS open orchestras, held about four times a year at Beaver Folk Dancing at Or Hadash,  Fort Washington, PA.  Dancers get instruction to recorded music from 8:15 to 8:45 p.m.; open orchestra plays 8:45 to 10:30 p.m. Click here to see some pictures from our June 25, 2003 event.

Bring your instrument and a music stand (one can be provided if you forget yours). Music will be provided. Bb  music is available for nearly every tune.

Music is international folk dance music including commonly danced tunes such as Zemer Atik, Bufcansko, Karagouna, Bavno Oro, and Kortanc.

If you can read music and have an instrument come on out. The evening is free for musicians and the dancers are always an appreciative audience.

For more information contact Sue Anderson (610-688-3284) or Bill Wadlinger (215-233-9399)

Not sure you want to try it? Then try first coming to one of the monthly IFS open international jams just for fun and practice. Music played at the Open Orchestras is taken from the list played at the international jams.
